Last time, we covered why most creators want to move away from adult website platforms and build their own porn site — and why payment processors are the number one headache that stops them. But your porn star career is not over yet. There are still ways to handle porn site payment methods without needing a merchant account or paying 10–20% in fees. These three ways are: cryptocurrency, gift vouchers/store credits, and hiring a developer for a custom plugin.
1. Using Crypto as Payment for Your Porn Site
The first and most familiar option is Bitcoin. Some porn websites have been using this for years. NaughtyAmerica.com, one of the biggest sites in the market, offers crypto at checkout. I personally don’t mind accepting it, especially since I have a free source available. There’s also a real benefit for customers — some people are wary of using their credit card on an unfamiliar site, and crypto solves that privacy concern entirely.
Privacy and Security
As the owner of edgethatguy.com, I can confirm you share very little with me: basically just your email address and username. Your credit card number is protected by the payment processor. I understand the desire for privacy on a porn site, and crypto takes that further — nothing shows up on your statement.
On my site, even standard card payments show up on statements as a completely unrelated site. It took a custom plugin to set that up, but rest assured — there’s no way for anyone to track that you’ve subscribed here.
Getting Started with BTCPay Server
Head to BTCPay Server and read everything you can. It’s a free, open-source, self-hosted Bitcoin payment gateway that lets you accept Bitcoin with zero fees. Once you’ve registered and set up your wallet, go to the Integrations section of the manual to find the setup method for your platform (WooCommerce, Wix, etc.).
Integrating with WooCommerce
On my site, I use WooCommerce to create membership products. The names don’t matter — I could call them Cola, Pepsi, and Sprite. The point is that purchasing “Cola” automatically upgrades a customer from visitor to subscriber for 1, 3, or 6 months. That’s what I’d connect to BTCPay.
One note when connecting the API: if https://btcpay.mydomain.com doesn’t work, try https://btcpay.adultxtheme.com. Once connected, go to WooCommerce → Payments tab → enable BTCPay. Done.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Free. Anonymous. No chargebacks — once a crypto transaction is done, it’s done.
Cons: Not everyone uses crypto. From my site, about 3% of orders use it. It’s a small slice but worth having as an option.
2. Selling Store Credits or Gift Cards
This might sound simple after reading it, but finding this method took me months of trial and error. There is genuinely no one writing this stuff down step by step — so if you find this useful, either send a hot guy my way to edge, or at least recommend this blog to someone who needs it. 😄
The core idea: instead of selling porn directly (which triggers payment processor restrictions), you sell something neutral. When you’re not “selling porn”, you can use PayPal, Stripe, or any standard WooCommerce payment gateway — at 2–5% fees instead of 10–20%.
2.1 Using a Store Credits System
You’ll need a free plugin called Advanced Coupons — specifically its “Loyalty Points” feature.
Setting Up Two Websites
Open two websites: your main porn site, and a second “neutral” site for selling store points. On the second site, create fake products matching your subscription prices (e.g., $10, $25, $40 for 1/3/6 months). When a customer buys one of these fake products and sends you proof, you manually add the matching store credit to their account on the main site.
Adjusting store credit is easy — find the customer’s name and add the amount. They can then use it to pay for subscriptions or PPV on the main site at checkout, alongside any other running promotions.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Free. Flexible. Works across multiple porn sites using separate voucher codes per site.
Cons: Manual. The customer has to wait for you to apply their credit. But honestly — OF creators take days to reply to DMs, so this isn’t a big deal.
2.2 Using Gift Vouchers
This process takes some patience to fully understand, so read it slowly and test each step.
Getting the Plugin
You’ll need to buy a plugin called WooCommerce PDF Voucher — around $50 per site, so $100 for both sites. This is WordPress-specific; it won’t work on Wix or Hostinger AI builds.
After installing, go to WooCommerce → Settings → PDF Voucher and check the required boxes. Don’t change anything else.
This plugin lets you create gift vouchers. When a customer buys one on the second site, they receive a PDF email with a voucher code. That code can then be used on your main site as a coupon. The trick is making the codes match between both sites.
Creating Gift Vouchers: Step by Step
- Create a simple product on the second website at your first price point (e.g., $10). Set the category to “gift voucher” — the plugin creates this automatically.
- Go to the PDF Voucher tab and configure the settings.
- Generate a batch of voucher codes (e.g., 100 codes = you can sell that voucher 100 times without duplicates).
- Copy those 100 codes into a notepad.
- Launch the product on the second site.
- On your main site, create the same $10 product and enter those same 100 codes in the “voucher codes” box. Do NOT generate new codes — paste the originals.
- Launch the product on the main site.
- Buy all 100 vouchers yourself and set orders to “completed”.
- The coupon codes matching those vouchers will now auto-generate on the main site, each valued at $10.
When a customer buys a voucher on the second site, they get an email with the code. They paste it at checkout on the main site as a coupon. Repeat the full process for each price tier ($25, $40, etc.). Generate 1000 codes at once if you want to minimize how often you need to refill.
You can also sell a $200 gift card — when the customer uses it to pay $40, the remaining $160 stays available. The system handles this automatically.
Closing the Loophole
There’s a potential exploit: a clever customer could try to use the same code on both sites in a loop to get free credit. Prevent this by excluding the “gift voucher” category from being purchasable with a coupon on the second site. Even if they have a valid code, they can’t use it to buy a new voucher.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Almost fully automated once set up. Just refill codes occasionally. Works across multiple porn sites using separate code sets per site.
Cons: Not free ($100 for both plugin licenses). Requires some technical comfort. You’ll also want to customise the email wording so customers know exactly what to do with the code they receive.
3. Hiring a Developer for a Custom Checkout
This is probably the closest you’ll get to the checkout experience you actually want. It costs money, but whatever platform you’re on, if it’s popular enough, there’s a developer out there who can build what you need.
3.1 Invoice Checkout
After a customer selects their plan and hits checkout, the plugin generates a PDF invoice and emails it to them. Inside is a payment link — you can use PayPal or any click-and-pay service. Once you receive a notification of payment, you manually activate their subscription. A bit manual, but set expectations upfront (“approval within 48 hours”) and most people are totally fine with it.
3.2 Full Custom Checkout via Inventory System
Find an inventory management website in your country that has a payment gateway built in. Connect your porn site to their system via API, then create neutral fake inventory items (e.g., “Online Course 1” for a 1-month membership). When a customer buys “Online Course 1”, the API signals your site to activate their membership automatically. On their credit card statement, it shows the inventory platform name — not your porn site. Great for customer privacy.
You’ll need to pay for API usage monthly and track your transaction volume to make sure you’re not under-buying quota. Always over-budget slightly based on your average visitors and conversion rate.
Pros and Cons
Pros: You get what you want — or close to it. Professional checkout experience, customer privacy built-in.
Cons: Costs money. Finding a trustworthy developer and compatible local service takes time. Some platforms are too rigid to support custom integrations.
Summary: All 3 Methods at a Glance
1. Crypto (Bitcoin)
Anonymous, zero fees, no chargebacks. Use BTCPay Server. Only about 3% of customers will use it, but it’s worth having as an option.
2. Store Credits and Gift Cards
The workaround method. Sell something neutral on a second site, convert to store credit on your main site. Manual but free (store credits) or low-cost ($100 for gift card plugin).
3. Custom Developer Plugin
Invoice checkout or a full API-integrated checkout via an inventory system. Closest to a real checkout experience. Costs money but gets you where you want to go.
Which Method Would I Pick?
If I had to choose, I’d go with option 3 — but the invoice version, not the full API build. For an amateur creator who isn’t running a major studio, invoice-based checkout is enough. Set the expectation clearly on your site (“approval may take up to 48 hours”) and most people are totally fine waiting. We’re not SeanCody. We don’t need a frictionless enterprise checkout to make this work.
